The Federation of Hungarian Horse Breeders (abbreviated as Federation) is a federation of equine breeders' associations recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture with national competence, founded in 1989. Only breeding organizations (associations) recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture can be regular members of the Federation. The Federation currently consists of 16 horse breeding organizations.
The purpose of the Federation is to coordinate Hungarian horse breeding and to carry out the professional tasks entrusted to it by its member associations and the animal breeding authority.
In order to carry out its tasks, the Federation operates the Breeding Office, which organizes the stallions stations, carries out the unique identification of foals/horses, the collection and pre-processing of pedigree and identification data, jointly operates the national horse breeding information system with the breeding authority, and also assists in the implementation of the breeding programme of breeders' associations and provides professional advice to breeders.
The Federations's goals, tasks and procedures are set out in its Statutes.
